My Review:
I so enjoyed this book, by a new author for me, and I will be recommending it to everyone. It’s an absolutely fascinating, gripping story of a part of world war two I didn’t know about. I read a lot of books based in this period so I always love it when I discover something new. I happily spent a few hours on the internet reading up all about it.
I really loved the main character Harry, yes he can be a bit arrogant sometimes but he also had quite a sweet, caring side which made me warm to him quickly. He is very good at his job and his clever, brave exploits ensured I was glued to the page. I so wanted him to succeed and prove to all the doubters that he could do it. I had to keep reading to see what happens to him.
The book is told from multiple points of view but they can be simply divided into a German and British view. This made for very interesting reading and it was great to learn more about how some of the Germans felt at that time which was a critical turning point in the war. It also helped add to the tension as sometimes you knew something would be happening before the characters which made the book very gripping.
This book is incredibly fast paced with lots going on to keep me entertained. I found myself quickly drawn into the story and I found the historical detail fascinating. This was the first book I’ve read by this author and I’m very excited to read more from him in the future. If you are a fan of historical thrillers or books based in world war two you’ll love this book.
Huge thanks to Anne Cater for inviting me onto the blog tour and to No Exit Press for my copy of this book.
