Good evening everyone and welcome to another jojorecommends. Today I’m featuring The Nook by Michael Barnum.
Michael was one of the first music streamers I found on twitch, after a friend recommended him,and I quickly fell in love with his relaxed streams. He’s on in the mornings for me and his chilled music is a great way to wake up. He always sings Joanna from Sweeny Todd when he greets me in stream which never fails to make me smile.
Michael is an American Filipino singer living in California. The Nook, his first single in two years, is a beautiful love story that really took me on a journey with the couple. Michael’s lyrics are incredibly vivid and helped me picture the story he’s trying to tell in the song. I felt I could actually see The Nook, based on a real air B&B home, in my mind and made me want to search for it on the web. I love the striking end to the verse and how effective the word no in this context.
