We recently had new carpets so all my books had to go into boxes for a few days. It was really weird not having them in the house so I was excited to finally get them back on the shelves. I’d seen lots of beautiful photos of colour coordinated bookshelves so thought I’d take the opportunity to try it for myself.

My kids and I love it with my daughter showing every visitor who comes to our house. My husband isn’t so sure but is going with it as the shelves are tidy at the moment. My only concern is having to rearrange them every time I get a new book but I guess I’ll work it out.
How do you arrange your shelves?

I think they look great and particularly love the beautiful spredges! My bookshelves have no order at all, other than books by the same authors being together! 😊

Thanks lovely! Not sure how long it will last tbh might be quite hard to maintain 😂

Alphabetically by author surname otherwise I’d never be able to find anything. Doesn’t change the problem of fitting in new books though… A couple of my bookcases are nearing the end of their life and need replacing so I’ll soon have the pleasure of dusting them all before reshelving.

Love the spredges header image!
My books are just anywhere and everywhere. I don’t think I’d choose the colour-coordinated method but it does look attractive.

Your shelves look really pretty and I love the spredges. I couldn’t do that with mine as I have too many books and most are double parked.

My answer would be messily (unlike yours which look great). I don’t have space for new books and they fit in somewhere when a gap appears. Consequently, despite being a librarian, my books are not in any order! That makes finding them fun as they’re spread over 13 bookcases in 5 rooms!
