Book Synopsis:

Carrie’s best friend has an accident and can no longer make the round-the-world trip they’d planned together, so Carrie decides to go it alone.

Violet is also travelling alone, after splitting up with her boyfriend in Thailand. She is also desperate for a ticket on the Trans-Siberian Express, but there is nothing available.

When the two women meet in a Beijing Hotel, Carrie makes the impulsive decision to invite Violet to take her best friend’s place.

Thrown together in a strange country, and the cramped cabin of the train, the women soon form a bond. But as the journey continues, through Mongolia and into Russia, things start to unravel – because one of these women is not who she claims to be…

A tense and twisted psychological thriller about obsession, manipulation and toxic friendships, Violet also reminds us that there’s a reason why mother told us not to talk to strangers…

Violet is available in ebook now and in paperback on the 14th if November 2019. You can purchase or pre-order your copy using the link below.

My Review:

Violet was another realistic, and thoroughly gripping thriller from a very talented author.

One of the things I most like about this author is her ability to take a normal situation which probably happens quite regularly and give it a sinister edge. Violet is no exception to this as the author takes a normal backpacking scenario of meeting someone whilst travelling and realising that they aren’t quite who you thought.

The author does a great job of slow dripping the reader information as they slowly become aware that things, and Violet, aren’t quite what they seem. There were lots of revelations and twists about people’s past which kept me firmly on my toes and guessing about what was going on. I seriously could not put this down and found I had to keep reading as I desperately wanted to know what was going to happen next.

This is the second book I’ve read by this author and she’s fast becoming one of my favourite authors. She writes some truly amazing stories and I’m very excited to read more from her in the future

Huge thanks to Anne Cater for inviting me onto the blog tour and to Orenda books for my copy of this book.
