Book Synopsis:

Hunter by name – Hunter by nature.

Can DI Hunter Wilson keep Edinburgh safe when he is the hunted?

Detective Inspector Hunter Wilson is woken in the early hours of the morning by a call from his son. Cameron’s flatmate was murdered. Why would anybody want to kill a young woman recently arrived in the city?

Hunter must call in the new Major Incident Team (MIT) to lead the investigation due to the reorganisation of police services. Hunter’s ability to be involved, however, is put in severe doubt when someone from his past decides to take revenge on him. He goes missing, and his team have no idea where to look for him. Who would want to stop Hunter in his tracks?

Meanwhile, Hunter’s team must work closely with the MIT, with or without him, to solve the murder in this taut crime thriller.

My Review:

Hunter’s Force is another fantastic book from this talented author. It’s gritty and complex as it deals with the difficult subject of human trafficking but the author also manages to project warmth and some humour into the story too.

I love books set in Edinburgh! I’ve visited the city a couple of times and fell in love with its historic buildings and great atmosphere. The author’s descriptions are brilliant and I enjoyed reading about some of the places I had visited as I felt more involved in the story. It was also interesting to visit some of the shadier places that tourists don’t get to visit in this book though.

Hunter was once again a great main character which we get to know a bit better in this book. He’s an experienced cop with a complicated personal life and it was interesting to see him struggle with balancing both of them. He comes across as being firm but fair which has earnt him the respect of his team. I loved the banter and sarcasm the team have with each other which broke up the hard hitting story. I really warmed to him and it was fun following him on his investigation.

This book was incredibly gripping and I found it very hard to put down. Its a book that had me sneaking away from the kids to try and read ‘just one more chapter’ or staying up far too late to read more. If you are looking for a new crime series I highly recommend this one.

Huge thanks to Rachel from Rachel’s Random resources for inviting me onto the blog tour and for my copy of this book.
