Book Synopsis:

Do you need to find out where you’ve come from before you can know what the future holds?

Ruby’s singing career is on the verge of hitting the big time, when her voice breaks. Fearing her career is over, she signs up for a retreat in Tenerife to recover.

But an unexpected call from a stranger on a remote Scottish island takes her on a short trip to sort out some family business. It’s time to go and see the grandfather she’s never met.

City girl Ruby knows she will be happy to leave the windswept beaches behind as quickly as she can, especially as a years-old family rift means she knows she won’t be welcome at Teach Mhor.

But as she arrives at the big house overlooking the bay, she finds things are not as straightforward as she might have thought.

There’s an unexpected guest in the house and he’s not planning on going anywhere any time soon …

Coming Home To Winter Island is available in ebook now and in paperback on the 12th December 2019. You can purchase or pre-order your copy using the link below.

My Review:

I absolutely adore Jo Thomas’s books! They are such wonderful, feel good books that are great for escaping into after a hard, stressful day.

I’ve always loved stories set by the sea so I loved the beautifully, vivid description of the remote Scottish Island Ruby finds herself in. The beautiful old house that her grandfather lives in was also interesting to read about and I felt I could perfectly picture Ruby there.

This author always manages to combine a food element into her story which normally either makes you very hungry or has you reaching for the recipe books. This story focuses on a recipe for lost gin which, as a big gin fan, sounded delicious. I’ve always wanted to try and make gin so this book has definitely motivated me to try it soon.

Overall I thought this was a fantastic story about discovering your past and trying to find out what the future holds. I really enjoyed going on the journey alongside Ruby as she learns more about herself. As always the author’s fantastic writing just drew me into the story and I soon found myself lost within its pages. It’s quite an easy read but one that packs quite a punch as there is lots going on and it’s quite an emotional storyline at times. If you are looking for a feel good book of pure escapism then I think you’ll like this book!

Huge thanks to Anne Cater for inviting me onto the blog tour and to Rosie from Headline for my copy of this book.
